How to play

  1. Each child picks a job and mimes it with their hands: sewing, playing the piano, sweeping, cooking…
  2. The leader mimes their own job while everyone sings.
  3. At any moment, the leader switches to copying another child’s job.
  4. That child has to notice right away and switch to the leader’s job.
  5. Missed it? Pay a forfeit! At the end, do a silly challenge to get it back.
Singing together:
Start slowly and go a little faster each round.
Good for practicing:
Paying attention, copying and taking turns.
Other versions:
In Mexico it’s also sung as «Juan Pirulero», and in Argentina as «Al don Pirulero».
