Sing it with actions

  1. The spider climbs: touch the thumb of one hand to the index finger of the other, twist your hands and touch them again, over and over, higher each time.
  2. On «vino la lluvia» (“the rain came”), bring your fingers down wiggling them like raindrops; on «se la llevó» (“washed it away”), sweep your hands out to the sides.
  3. On «salió el sol» (“the sun came out”), draw a big circle over your head with your arms.
  4. On «otra vez subió» (“climbed up again”), the spider climbs up your fingers once more!
  5. In the verses, wiggle your fingers «así, así» (“like this, like this”) like the five friends and lift your hands to the beat.
Singing together:
Do the actions slowly and let your child copy them; once the song is familiar, pause before «subió» (“climbed up”) so your child can say it.
Good for practicing:
Moving fingers and hands, copying actions and talking about the rain and the sun.
Other versions:
It’s also sung as «Incy Wincy araña» or «La araña pequeñita» (“The Teeny Tiny Spider”).
